Toilet Installation

Replacing an old, cracked or inefficient toilet.

Newly installed white toilet
What it isReplacing a toilet is often done to stop recurring problems, fix cracked porcelain, or move to a more water-efficient model. The key measurement is the rough-in: the distance from the finished wall to the center of the floor drain, most commonly 12 inches.

When you need toilet installation

  • Cracked bowl or tank
  • Repeated clogs from an older low-flow design
  • Remodeling
  • Wanting a comfort-height or water-efficient model

How it works

  1. Measure rough-in and check for space around the toilet.
  2. Remove the old toilet and inspect the flange and subfloor.
  3. Repair or replace the flange if broken or set too low.
  4. Set the new toilet on a new seal, level it, and connect a new supply line.
  5. Test for leaks and proper flush.

Limits and when it’s not the right fix

  • Rotted subfloor around the flange must be repaired first.
  • Changing rough-in distance requires moving the drain.

What affects the cost

We don’t publish national price figures because real quotes vary too much by region, access and the condition of your system. These are the factors that move the price:

  • Toilet model
  • Flange repair
  • Subfloor repair
  • Haul away

Ask for a written quote that names the method, materials and any permit or restoration work before work begins.
